Drop the video on the page or click to browse. MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI and WMV all work, up to 100 MB.
Choose the sound
Play the sound backwards with the picture, or remove it.
Reverse the video
Press the button. The video is made on ToolStudio's server, which takes longer than most tools because every piece is read and made again.
Play it and download
The new video appears with a player and a Download button. It is an MP4 that plays on nearly every device.
Add a video and get it back playing backwards: it starts with the last picture and ends with the first. You choose whether the sound plays backwards with it or is removed.
Every frame is kept, in exactly the opposite order, with none dropped or repeated, at the same picture size and frame rate. The video is made again at a high quality setting, as an MP4 with H.264 picture, so it looks the same as the original.
Playing a video backwards means holding its pictures in memory, so the video is cut into short pieces, each piece is reversed, and the pieces are joined in the opposite order. That is more work than most tools do, and a video that has few keyframes costs more to read. On a single processor, 10 seconds of 1080p video took about a minute and 30 seconds of 720p video about a minute. The server refuses a video that would take too long, which in practice means about 35 seconds of 1080p video or 90 seconds of 720p video, and a little more for phone videos. Trim a longer one first.
Reversing is too slow for a browser, so this tool works on ToolStudio's server: your video is uploaded for it and the files are deleted automatically afterwards. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how many videos you make. Videos up to 100 MB can be added.
Add the video, choose what happens to the sound and press Reverse the video. The new video starts with the last picture of the original and ends with the first, and it appears with a player and a Download button.
Reverse it here, then play or share the new file: it is an ordinary MP4 that plays backwards in any player, on a phone, in a browser or on a web page, because the pictures themselves are in the new order.
That is your choice. Play the sound backwards too (the default) reverses the sound with the picture, so a spoken word comes out backwards; Remove the sound leaves the new video silent. In testing, a tone that played for the first five seconds of a ten-second video played for the last five seconds of the new one.
Yes, in two steps: reverse the video with Remove the sound, then put the original sound on it with Add Audio to Video, choosing the original video as the sound.
The video is made again at a high quality setting (H.264), so it looks the same as the original; no pictures are dropped or repeated. To make the new file smaller afterwards, use Compress Video.
Yes. In testing, a 300-frame video came back as exactly 300 frames and a 900-frame video as exactly 900, in exactly the opposite order, one frame apart with none repeated; the picture size and frame rate stay what they were.
Yes. Playing a video backwards means making it again, which is too slow for a browser, so this tool works on ToolStudio's server: the video is uploaded for it and the files are deleted automatically afterwards.
Videos up to 100 MB can be added. Reversing is slow work, so the server refuses a video that would take too long: about 35 seconds of 1080p or 90 seconds of 720p, and a little more for phone videos, which have a keyframe every second or so. Trim a longer video first with Trim/Cut Video.
More than most tools, because every piece of the video is read, held and made again. In testing with the work held to a single processor, 10 seconds of 1080p video took about a minute and 30 seconds of 720p video about a minute, plus your upload and download time.
MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI and WMV all work, up to 100 MB. The new video is always an MP4, which plays on nearly every phone, computer and website.
This page reverses the whole video. To reverse one part, cut it out with Trim/Cut Video, reverse it here, and join the pieces back together with Merge Videos.
Reverse a copy of the video here, then join the original and the reversed copy with Merge Videos, original first. Repeat the result with Video Looper to make it go back and forth.
No. Reverse video search looks for where a video came from. This tool plays a video you already have backwards.
This page works on a video file you add from your device, not on a link. Use the file of a video you made or have the right to use.
Open this page in Safari or Chrome, add the video from your photos or files, choose what happens to the sound, make the new video and download it to your phone.
Make the new video here and upload it as you would any video. The apps have a reverse effect of their own while you edit, but a file made here plays backwards everywhere.
It makes a rewind effect, a spilled drink that jumps back into the glass, a jump that lands on the ledge it left, or a sentence played backwards for a puzzle or a hidden message.
That is a mirror image, not a reversed video. Use Rotate/Flip Video and tick Mirror left to right.
Yes. Use Video Speed on the new video to make it faster or slower.
Yes. Use Video to GIF on the new video.
Yes. Attach the video and say what you want, for example play this backwards, or reverse it and remove the sound. The AI uses the same choices as this page and shows the new video with a player and a Download button.
