The video appears with a player and a Download button, with how much smaller it is.
Add a GIF and get a small video. A GIF is a large and clumsy way to store a moving picture; the same animation as an MP4 or a WebM is usually many times smaller and plays smoothly on phones, in apps and on web pages.
A GIF repeats by itself and a video file does not, so choose how many times it should play, from 1 to 20, and the repeats are written into the video. Video also cannot be see-through, so the transparent parts of a GIF are filled with white or black, whichever you choose, instead of coming out black.
The video is made again from the GIF's frames at the quality you pick; it cannot be sharper than the GIF, which has at most 256 colours. The video keeps the GIF's timing and has no sound, because a GIF has none. Odd sizes are rounded down by a pixel, as video needs even ones. In testing, a 3 MB GIF became a 125 KB MP4.
Most GIFs are converted in your browser and are not uploaded. A very large or long GIF that would take the browser too long goes to ToolStudio's server instead (up to 20 MB), and the page says so; the files are deleted automatically afterwards. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how many GIFs you convert.
Add the GIF, leave MP4 chosen under Save as, set how many times it should play and press Convert to MP4. A small GIF is converted in your browser in a few seconds and the video appears with a player and a Download button.
Choose MP4 for a video that plays almost everywhere, or WebM for a video made for web pages, then press the Convert button. The video is silent, because a GIF has no sound.
Choose WebM under Save as and convert. The picture is made again as VP8 in a WebM file, which web pages and browsers play; an MP4 is usually smaller still and plays on more devices.
A GIF stores every frame separately with at most 256 colours and little compression. Video stores what changes from one frame to the next. In testing, a 3 MB GIF of 4 seconds became a 125 KB MP4 (24 times smaller) and a 288 KB WebM.
No. A GIF has no sound, so the video has none. To add music or a voice, use Add Audio to Video on the result.
Slide Play the GIF up to the number of times you want, from 1 to 20. A video file cannot repeat by itself the way a GIF does, so the repeats are written into it; on a web page you can also let the player loop it.
Sources say a GIF posted from a phone's gallery turns into a still picture, so post the animation as a video instead. Convert it to MP4 here, then upload the MP4 as a new post. Check the sizes and lengths the app asks for.
A video cannot be transparent, so the see-through parts are filled with the colour you choose under Behind see-through parts, white or black. Without that step they would come out black.
A GIF has at most 256 colours, and the video is made again from its frames, so it cannot be sharper than the GIF. At Best quality it looks the same as the GIF to the eye; Smaller file gives up a little more to save space.
MP4 plays on nearly every phone, computer and website, and is the smaller file in testing. Choose WebM when the video is for a web page and you want the file type browsers made for the web.
Not when it is converted in your browser, which is what happens to most GIFs. A very large or long GIF that would take the browser too long is sent to ToolStudio's server instead, and the page then shows that it was uploaded and deleted automatically afterwards.
Up to 150 MB can be opened in your browser. The server, which takes over for a GIF too big for the browser to convert quickly, accepts GIFs up to 20 MB.
A few seconds for a typical GIF. In testing, a 4-second 480 × 270 GIF became an MP4 in about two seconds, and the same GIF repeated three times took about five. The time grows with the number of frames and their size.

Add the GIF as a file from your device: a web page cannot read a file that sits on another site. Save the GIF to your device first.
Yes, with Video to GIF, which turns part of a video into a GIF with a caption if you like.
Each GIF is a separate job. Download one, press Start over and add the next.
Video needs an even width and height, so an odd size is rounded down by one pixel.
Yes. The video keeps the GIF's own timing for every frame.
Choose Smaller file under Quality, or use Compress Video on the result.
Add it with a video tag that loops, for example <video src="clip.mp4" autoplay loop muted playsinline>. Browsers only start a video by themselves when it is muted, and a video is usually far smaller than the GIF it replaces.
